Snowflakes adds a wintery snowfall effect to your storefront. It is a lightweight visual widget that drifts animated snow over your pages, ideal for seasonal campaigns around Christmas and the new year. You can drop it onto an individual page through the page builder, or run it as a full-screen overlay across the whole storefront. It is purely decorative: it does not collect data, change your products, or interfere with shoppers clicking and scrolling.

Features

Getting started
- In your dashboard, open the plugin store and install Snowflakes.
- Open the Snowflakes entry in your plugins menu and use the Preview screen to try the intensity, backdrop and colour options.
- Add it to your storefront using the page builder: edit the page you want, add a Plugin Widget element, and choose Snowflakes.
- Save and publish the page. The snowfall now appears on your live storefront.
To show snow across your whole storefront rather than on one page, use the Snowflakes Overlay option, which runs site-wide at medium intensity.
Settings
Settings are chosen in the Preview screen so you can see the result straight away:
- Intensity — Light, Medium or Heavy, controlling how many flakes fall.
- Flake colour — white, pale blue, pale pink or pale yellow. Lighter colours suit dark page backgrounds; the pastel shades suit bright ones.
- Preview backdrop — a light or dark background shown in the preview only, so you can judge the effect against your page. This backdrop is not added to your live storefront; the snow there is transparent and drifts over your own page content.
Where the snow appears is determined by where you place the widget: on a single page block, on product pages, on the cart, or as a site-wide overlay.
Performance & accessibility
The effect is lightweight and runs entirely in the visitor's browser. It draws onto a single canvas layer that sits behind your content and never captures clicks, so it does not affect navigation, forms or checkout.
Snowflakes respects the reduced motion accessibility setting. If a visitor has asked their device or browser to reduce motion, the widget shows a single static frame of snow instead of an animation.
Troubleshooting
- The snow does not appear on the storefront. Check that the page containing the Plugin Widget element has been saved and published, and that the widget is set to Snowflakes.
- I want snow on every page, not just one. Use the Snowflakes Overlay option, which runs across the whole storefront, rather than adding the widget to a single page.
- The flakes are hard to see. Switch to a flake colour that contrasts with your background — for example white or pale blue on a dark page — and try a higher intensity.
- Snow is not animating for some visitors. This is expected if the visitor has enabled reduced-motion in their device or browser settings; they will see a static frame instead.
