How do I install a plugin?

Open its page here and choose the install button. That opens the plugin's install page in your Orbit dashboard, which shows what it costs and any permissions it asks for, and the plugin is installed when you confirm. You can also install plugins from the Plugins page in your dashboard, and the help centre has a step-by-step guide.

What does a plugin cost, and how am I billed?

Each plugin shows its price on its page here, and again on the install screen before you confirm. Free plugins cost nothing to install. Paid ones are charged to a card saved in your Orbit dashboard and appear under Apps and add-ons in Plan & Billing, next to your Orbit plan. The help centre explains plugin plans and billing.

Are plugin prices shown with VAT?

No. Plugin prices exclude VAT, and any VAT due is added when you are charged.

Can I try a paid plugin before I pay?

Accepted Answer

Where a plugin offers a free trial, installing it for the first time starts the trial with no card needed. You are only charged if you subscribe, never before the trial ends. If you have not subscribed when the trial ends, you are not charged, and a plugin with a free plan goes back to that plan. You can browse the plugins with a free trial.

What can a plugin see and change in my store?

Accepted Answer

A plugin that connects through the Orbit API lists the permissions it needs on its page here, split into what it can see and what it can change, and the install screen shows them again before you confirm. It can use only those, an update that needs more has to ask you first, and uninstalling takes them all away. Plugins that do not use the Orbit API list none, including Orbit's own plugins that are built into Orbit itself. The help centre covers permission requests after an update.

What happens if I uninstall a plugin?

Accepted Answer

It comes off your store and loses its access straight away. If you pay a subscription for it, the subscription is cancelled at the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew. If you reinstall before then, you can keep using it until that date at no extra cost. Its settings and the data it kept in Orbit are kept for 30 days, and come back if you reinstall it within that time.

Who makes the plugins, and are they checked?

Each plugin's page names its publisher. Orbit Commerce makes its own, and partners can publish theirs: a partner's plugin is reviewed by the Orbit team before it is listed here. Developers can sign up for a free partner account on the partner dashboard.

Do I need an Orbit store to use a plugin?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Plugins install into an Orbit Commerce store from its dashboard, on any plan. If you do not have a store yet, you can start one with a free trial, with no card needed.
